Dalí's fantastic expressions in paintings, sculptures, films and writings helped shape the identity of surrealism. Inspired by Freud's psychoanalysis, Einstein's theory of relativity, impressionism and Renaissance painting, Dalí depicted symbolist, imaginative creatures and landscapes. Few artists have created a universe as distinctive as Dalí, where an imaginative mix of madness and technical perfection reigns. His painting "The Persistence of Memory" from 1931 is one of the most famous works of art of all time. Andreas is a photographer with a background in advertising, fashion and documentary photography. Annie is a hairdresser, make-up artist and in the project also a stylist. Each work is inspired by a true story or life story. Andreas and Annie have made their own interpretation of these stories and sometimes they have changed the time period and place. He painted outdoors in the rain and snow. Ekström had a passionate interest in light, air and atmospheric effects. “He is crazy about sunrises, adores sunsets and is therefore always, in the summer at least, late for dinner.” In 1876 he arrived in Paris, and he was impressed by the painting of the Barbizon School, especially by the poetic landscapes of Camille Corot. Ekström painted in the French countryside, of course visiting Barbizon, after which he spent a long period on the rocky coast of Normandy. Later he would spend more time in the vicinity of Paris. During that period he added a suite of Impressionist paintings with marshlands and floods draped in a silvery haze of sunshine. At the World Exhibition in 1899, his landscapes attracted attention, and he was awarded a gold medal. When he returned to Öland in the late 1880s after his long emigration, he looked with fresh eyes at the barren plains and richer tones of the air of his homeland. The expressive motifs are painted with strong large strokes and strong colors in layers. From the chaotic, patterns emerge through contrasts in light and dark. The colors lift each other and a finely tuned interplay expands. Finally, harmony and balance arise. Nadine's painting is a tribute to creativity, to entering a world where everything is possible without being inhibited by the results of the past. Ivarson belonged to the artist group Gothenburg Colorists. He started at Valand's painting school in Gothenburg in 1922, under Tor Bjurström. Ivarson married in Paris, in February 1928, the sculptor Märta Taube, sister of Evert Taube & Karin Parrow, and they had a son together, Per, in August of that year. In the early 1930s, Ivarson spent his summers on Stenungsön in Bohuslän, which would become an important place for their circle of artists. He had already left Carl Kylberg's studio in Helsingör in 1929, which he had borrowed over the winter, and returned to the West Coast and Stenungsön, where he would live next door to his fellow painter Ragnar Sandberg. It was not only the color that Ivarson developed during this time. His brushwork was also in harmony with the color scheme; he let the color flow across the canvas broadly and quickly, intuitively but precisely. His art consisted of a sensitivity that was part of Ivarson's artistry. "Painting is dictating in color - if the color does not play the first role, it can certainly be art - but not painting." But it is the romantic ecstasy of color that has become Ivan Ivarson's character description in the general perception and which has also made him one of the dominant figures among those we usually call the Gothenburg colorists of the 1930s.

Technique: Oil
Material: Canvas
Size: 28 x 34 cm incl. frame (20 x 25 cm excl. frame)
Year: 1925

Johan Krouthen - Swedish artist born in 1858 in Linköping, lived until 1932.
