ABSTRACT LANDSCAPES
With the power, light and magic of nature as a source of inspiration, Åsa Eriksson lets her images emerge in an interweaving of colours, imagination and inner longing. She is active in Stockholm, where she shares a studio with her daughter Nadine "NASCH" Schjölin. Here she finds outlet for her inspiration and lets the canvases stretch out along the walls.
In her new collection, she explores the abstract feelings of the inner landscape. A blooming field whispers of morning beauty, an inner state that becomes an image. She paints places that she would like to be in. "That forest clearing where the light delicately finds its way down to you through the dense foliage. Where everything is still and breathes harmony".
During the exhibition you will experience these brand new creations from Åsa Eriksson. Come and experience the opening weekend at the gallery in Linköping, where you will be the first to view the artworks in pleasant company with bubbly refreshments and snacks. ABOUT ÅSA ERIKSSON
Åsa Eriksson (b. 1962) lets her images grow with the help of colors, imagination and an inner longing for connection with nature and its power in light and energy. The style is reminiscent of the masters of early impressionism, but the expression is own and expressionistic with the depiction from Åsa's own inner landscape. Through her painting, the viewer is invited to their own interpretations and reflections of memories. A peaceful forest clearing with light gently filtering down through the foliage. A jetty over still, shiny water in the warm rays of the dawn sun. Åsa invites you to a timeless feeling like the memory of a dream.

CHARACTERIZED BY THE CHANGES OF NATURE
Åsa Eriksson was born outside Umeå, her childhood was marked by nature and its changes. The heavy forests, rivers, ponds, blooming meadows and the changing of the seasons. In nature, she created her own enchanting worlds and adventures. The magic and the experiences are still there, even after 25 years as an artist. Åsa Eriksson paints nature and places she wants to step into, experience and stay in.
IMPRESSIONIST EXPRESSION
From the white canvas, Åsa Eriksson draws out motifs by applying layer upon layer of oil paint, which she then scrapes and brushes on. Sometimes it's as much about removing as adding. Often she starts with the canvas on the floor, twisting and turning before a harmonious landscape begins to emerge. Sometimes the subject is allowed to rest before it ends up on an easel to be completed. Åsa Eriksson's style is reminiscent of the leading artists of Impressionism. But while the old masters had their basis in naturalism and plein air painting, Åsa's motives come from within. She paints her inner landscapes in an emotional expression that is colored by her memories combined with raw creative desire.
