CONTEMPORARY PAINTING WITH A TIMELESS TOUCH

As an introduction to the autumn exhibitions, we are now opening the gallery with a new exhibition of stylish works by Jeanette Hennum. Hennum captures light, still life and animals in a beautiful and quiet painting where colors and moods form a whole reminiscent of the timeless paintings of the Dutch masters. In her new collection, she explores the living creatures of beautiful nature with rare sharpness and color reproduction. The clear light follows like a red thread through the exhibition. Hennum's work with its eye-catching details should be experienced on site with your own eyes for maximum effect.

Born in Norway, Jeanette Hennum studied painting in Oslo and has had exhibitions in the Nordics since the 90s. Hennum's work adorns the luxury cruiser Radisson Seven Seas Voyager. She follows in the footsteps of the old Dutch masters with imagery and technique but lets her own character and inner life shine through the motifs.

In the warm morning light, Jeanette Hennum finds the soul and energy in things and nature. Her still life paintings carefully captures and preserves the colors, beautiful shades and character of the objects for eternity. A mirror to a past moment in dreamy play of light or reality. Hennum's compositions are well balanced and allow the thing to be in individual focus. In calm and harmony, the object makes the viewer tie back to its origins.

A warm welcome to the autumn's first exhibition where you can experience a brilliant collection of works by Jeanette Hennum, together with bubbly refreshments and snacks.

ABOUT JEANETTE HENNUM

For Jeanette Hennum, ancient things are filled with soul and energy. With reverence, she takes care of the essence of the old objects and gives them eternal life on the canvas. Jeanette wants to evoke a beautiful, harmonious and calm feeling in the viewer. She uses the classic still life symbolism of sins and death but in a modern and more minimalistic interpretation without the abundance of objects.

A TECHNICALLY SKILLFULL CRAFTSMANSHIP

The oil paintings are created with many thin layers of paint on top of each other. Each careful brushstroke brings the motif one step closer to perfection. Jeanette Hennum's paintings are technically well-crafted works of art that are created over a long period of time. Canvases and paints are of the highest quality to carefully depict and preserve the objects.

WITH TRADITION FROM THE DUTCH GOLDEN AGE

Still life as an art style was popularized by the old Dutch masters during the Renaissance. The newfound interest in enlightenment and science made artists move from religious motifs to immortalizing objects and nature. During her art studies, Jeanette Hennum discovered the masters Willem Kalf, Claesz Heda and Chardin, who have since influenced her still life style.

"OLD EVERYDAY OBJECTS LINK US HUMANS TO OUR ORIGINS. COPPER VESSELS REMIND ME OF GRANDMA AND MAKE ME NOSTALGIC. I WANT TO MAKE REALITY BEAUTIFUL IN ALL ITS ORDINARYNESS.”
- JEANETTE HENNUM
