" Vigilantly, the blue tit watches us from its mossy branch. Autumn's last remaining yellowed leaves give the bird camouflage for all its colorful plumage. We are a guest in his kingdom. "
Jonas Nilsson (b. 1968, Uppsala) has established himself as one of our foremost nature painters in watercolor and oil. The portrait-like bird motifs, often calmly depicted with silhouettes against shiny water mirrors, have become his hallmark. The motifs are characterized by a strong love for our nature in all its detailed colors and shapes. In Jonas Nilsson's depictions, the animals become more than just examples of their species, they become living individuals with their own expressions. From an early age, Jonas Nilsson accompanied the family into the woods and fields, always with the sketchpad ready while the parents picked mushrooms and berries. The debut exhibition came already at the age of 15 and since then his artistry has resulted in over 40 exhibitions in Sweden and internationally. In 2005, he exhibited in Bruno Liljefor's home, Österbybruks Herrgård, and he has participated in the prestigious "Birds in Art" in the USA on several occasions. Jonas Nilsson lives and works in Uppsala.
