This gold and silver crystal guitar is named after Elvis' last top ten single released in 1972. But it is also a tribute to the dual nature that characterizes rock n' roll, and to some extent Elvis' life. Kjell Engman says: "I wanted to combine a slightly ungainly look with a kind of opposite dynamic – the force field between soft and hard, pleasant and rough, which has given rise to so much great art."
Kjell Engman has been associated with Kosta Boda since 1978, with a studio at the Boda glassworks. He is a tireless visual artist with a boundless imagination and a joy of storytelling that finds free outlet in both practical and art glass. Engman draws inspiration from the most diverse sources, not least from the animal kingdom and from the world of music and entertainment. He often works with larger installations, where the glass is combined with elements such as sound and light.
