Galleri Melefor's anniversary year continues with an exhibition and opening with Karin Holmström. Known for her figurative abstract painting, she explores themes of life and freedom through people and animals.

A year of troubled surroundings has left its mark and impression on Karin:
"In this exhibition, I have been strongly influenced by the news reports about the women's struggle and the limitation of women's freedom, mainly in Iran. My pictures are also about us humans limiting and trying to separate ourselves from each other. Regardless of gender, we are influenced by how things should be in our world and we risk limiting our own inner freedom. With my images, I want to highlight that we all possess infinite creative power and creativity. If we dare to listen inwardly and trust the process."

MAJESTIC SPLENDOR AND WISDOM

THE ETERNAL WISDOM OF ANIMALS

The large animals reappear in Karin's dreams after the youth's trips to South Africa and Kreugerparken. The most common are the elephant and the lion, but also rhinos and other animals leave their mark.

The animals radiate wisdom, safety, calm, strength, and freedom. Often they view us through a haze of colors. A presence that is beyond the physical. Who stares at us with its majestic and magnificent power.

KARIN HOLMSTRÖM

Karin Holmström, born 1978, lives and works in Stockholm. Through the background in finance in the business and fashion industry at H&M, the passion to create has always been there, like a freedom valve. Nowadays, she has established herself as a full-time artist with great attention from exhibitions in Sweden and internationally, including in London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Karin Holmström's paintings have also been represented as study furnishings in "Malou efter tio", in collaboration with Odd Molly and most recently through live painting in the city hall during the festivities for the Nobel celebration.

DARING TO BELIEVE IN ONE'S ABILITY

Determination, self-confidence, and a power of freedom characterize Karin Holmström's female figures. The courage to dare, to believe in one's ability and what can be achieved can be found in her visual world. The female figures are often portrayed in a confident movement forward, a reflection on where they are going and what they want to achieve. A reflection that awakens thoughts in ourselves.

With the abstract backgrounds with their color blends, the impression is enhanced with calmness and stability in the blue, energy and excitement in the yellow, passion in the red and balance and contrast in the black and white.
