Get to know Jeanette Hennum

In the warm morning light, Jeanette Hennum finds the soul and energy in things and nature. Her still lifes gently capture and preserve the colors, beautiful hues and character of the objects for the eternal story. A mirror to a past moment in dreamy play of light or reality. Hennum's compositions are well balanced and allow the thing to be in individual focus. In calm and harmony, the object makes the viewer tie back to its origin.

"OLDER EVERYDAY OBJECTS LINK PEOPLE TO THEIR ORIGIN. COPPER VESSELS REMIND ME OF GRANDMA AND MAKE ME NOSTALGIC. I WANT TO MAKE REALITY BEAUTIFUL IN ALL ITS ORDINARYNESS.”

- JEANETTE HENNUM -

A CAREFUL CRAFT

The oil paintings are created with many thin layers of paint on top of each other. Each careful brushstroke brings the motif one step closer to perfection. Jeanette Hennum's paintings are technically well-crafted crafts that are created over a long period of time. Canvases and paints are of the highest quality to carefully depict and preserve the objects.

WITH TRADITION FROM THE DUTCH GOLDEN AGE

Still life as an art style was popularized by the old Dutch masters during the Renaissance. The newfound interest in enlightenment and science made artists move from religious motifs to immortalizing objects and nature. During her art studies, Jeanette Hennum discovered the masters Willem Kalf, Claesz Heda and Chardin, who have since influenced her still life style.

AN HONOUR TO PRESERVE AN ANIMAL'S SOUL AND PERSONALITY

Animals are close to Jeantte Hennum's heart. The deep forest surrounds her home outside Örebro, Sweden, and offers constant inspiration. The animal motifs creep in, both with the deep forest and streams and lakes as background. For Hennum, it is an honor to be able to give them eternal life with soul and personality.

A specialty is the motifs with ducks and birds in a water environment. The play of light that occurs when the still small waves are reflected and refracted against the shallow bottom, just below the surface, fascinates the viewer. The still life comes to life.
