Description

Amy about the fish bags: " The fish bags came from a childhood memory. We had many goldfish and it was in a bag that they came in when they made the trip home. The glass has similarities to water in many ways and for me it is natural to use the glass to reflect other elements”.

Glass artist Amy Krüger always challenges and surprises the viewer with her craft. With a perfect mix of humorous and serious undertones, she creates thought-provoking and challenging artwork. The playful combination of both blown and sculpted glass creates depth and reflections in light and thoughts. Masked in the almost naive figurative image world, there is a masterful balance and contrast that leads the viewer on new and unexpected paths of thought. Amy Krüger, born in 1987, already has more than 18 years of glassblowing experience. She is educated at Kosta glascenter and KADK Bornholm and has since worked with many different artists around Scandinavia. Since 2017, she has been cabin master for Orranäs glass cabin in Småland's glass kingdom.

CRAFT AND ARTISTRY HAND IN HAND

Amy Krüger (b. 1987) has been master at Orranäs glassworks since 2018, a combination of glass master, designer and creative developer. Despite her young age, she already has over 18 years of experience in the craft. In a industrial environment dating back to the 18th century, she gets to develop herself as a craftsman and artist and test the limits of what is possible with the material and the art form.

LAYERS OF HUMOR AND PLAYFULNESS

Amy likes the playfulness in life and takes it as a starting point for her creations. She mixes the innocent joy of a child at a fun fair with serious subjects to allow undertones of the dark sides of existence to elicit deep thoughts from the viewer.

"Life has its dark sides that cannot be ignored, but you should be a little happy with life."

- Amy Kruger

LIKE FISH IN WATER

Glass has been a big part of Amy's life since childhood and she has been working with it since high school.

"I have loved glass ever since I was little. In first grade, I was asked a question about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I answered confidently: Glass designer!”

- Amy Kruger

AMY'S CURIOSITY IS REFLECTED IN THE WORKS OF ART

Watching her inner images come to life in the glass is fascinating to Amy. It will be unique - but will it work, or will the glass crack in the process? No one knows, not even the glass master Amy herself. The search for and exploration in both artistry and technology drives her forward with humility and curiosity.
