Bertil Vallien is a Swedish glass designer and ceramist, a world artist with a long list of achievements. Vallien works primarily in glass and has developed a unique, distinctive style with sculptures in sand-cast glass, often depicting boats and heads. Vallien deals with the existential by filling the works with symbolic messages. His imagery triggers the thinking process in us, the viewer. It becomes a suggestive encounter – like dreams that want to speak to us, that carry a presence that is nevertheless difficult to grasp and interpret.
Vallien is one of the world's leading glass designers and is represented around the world. In 2001 he was awarded the "Visionaries Award Museum of Art and Design" in New York. He was also appointed an honorary doctor at Växjö University (Linnäinuniversitetet).
