Pierre Rådsten

Pierre Rådsten (b. 1982, active in Nässjö) is known for his fantastic narrative naivism, characterized by a colorful palette. In his paintings, the viewer is met with influences from early naïve movements with people gathering in idyllic environments and crowds. With playful precision, Rådsten creates detailed oil paintings that invite the viewer to a life-affirming journey in the positive signs of naïveté. In true storytelling joy, he invites us to open the door ajar to idyllic restaurant environments, crowds and beautiful nature scenes inspired by his upbringing and childhood memories of gastronomy in both France and Sweden. Pierre Rådsten's creative work began at a young age with a paint box that he received as a gift. Self-taught by nature, he has taken great inspiration and lessons from his grandfather, the artist Rune Rådsten, whose artist friends included names such as Sven X:et Erixson and Otte Sköld.

Life-affirming Naivism

Pierre's motifs convey a warm feeling and spread joy to the viewer. Growing up, Pierre was strongly influenced by his grandfather Rune, his artist friends and their lives. This is reflected in the color palette, the figures and the environments that bring to mind the 50s.

Layer upon layer brings out the naive charm

Pierre's densely painted motifs are filled with well-crafted details that invite the viewer to explore his stories. Often each work takes months and many layers of oil before Pierre is satisfied. Naivists are not always known for technically detailed and well-crafted motifs, but Pierre Rådsten is an exception.

Detailed French restaurant environments

In Pierre's detailed motifs we encounter strong influences from the early 20th century naïves. His motifs are bursting with idyllic environments, activities and crowds of people. Restaurants and cafés with chefs and waiters are recurring motifs as his father was a chef.

"I always have paper and pen with me. If I find a nice environment, I sketch out the artwork right there. Colors, shapes and details are added and rearranged to fit my inner image."

-Pierre

About Gallery Melefors

Johan Melefors, born 1971, founder and CEO of Galleri Melefors grew up in a family that is the third generation in the auction and antique industry. Already while growing up, Johan developed an interest in art and since the early 1990s has collected and traded in classic, modern and contemporary konst.Galleri Melefors in Linköping, he started in 2013 when he moved home from Stockholm to his hometown of Linköping, which he then thought lacked an art shop and a gallery with a wide range of established collector's art and a well-thought-out and future-interesting contemporary catalog to view.
