Susanna Arwin is an artist constantly relevant in the Swedish public. Her work radiates civil courage with a call to courage and to have the heart in the right place when it matters. For many, Susanna Arwin is strongly associated with "the aunt with the bag" and through tributes to strong aunts who steadfastly stand up for a humane perspective in their unwavering ordinariness. With the purse as a weapon if required.
Susanna Arwin's expression is in both sculpture, paintings and collage. She makes her own paper from linen pulp where the leather-hard sheets are broken down and then put back together in collages and the sculptures are designed and created in the proud Småland craft tradition.
After training at, among others, Beckmans School of Design and the School of Visual Arts in New York, her life-long project "The Swedish Aunt" began, which resulted in numerous public commissions and awards.
