"Mary Frith was both loved and hated. Better known as Moll Cutpurse, she was a notorious figure in London’s underworld in the early 1600s. Her nickname came from her skill in cutting purses directly from her victims' clothing. Mary was a thief, fence, and pimp who wore men's clothing, smoked a pipe, and is said to have been England’s first female smoker. London taverns filled to watch her comedic performances, where she danced, sang, and played her lute. The crowd, divided in opinion, cheered or booed while Mary’s accomplices emptied their pockets.

Despite numerous arrests, she often escaped serious punishment. Once, she was put on a ship bound for America but jumped off and swam back to shore. People of both sexes visited her house on Fleet Street, seeking a lover. Spotting an untapped market, she offered escorts for both men and women. Thieves brought her stolen goods, which she sold back to the victims at higher prices—usually faster and easier than going through court. Business thrived, and she adorned her home with mirrors to satisfy her vanity. Mary also employed three attendants to care for her parrots and mastiffs, each with its own bed, sheets, and blankets.

Mary was widely famous even in her lifetime, and several plays and books were written about her."

Andreas Lundberg (b. 1973) is a photographer stationed in Stockholm with the world as his field of work. His work can be seen, among other things, in advertising campaigns, magazines and books. "Silent Stories" is an art project created by husband and wife Andreas Lundberg and Annie Vesterdahl Lundberg. Andreas is a photographer with a background in advertising, fashion and documentary photography. Annie is a hairdresser, make-up artist and, in the project, also a stylist. Each piece is inspired by a true story or fate. Andreas and Annie have made their own interpretation of these stories and sometimes they have changed the era and place. The creative process is often long and exciting, a constant search for a story that they can fantasize about and turn into a work of art. Hundreds of sketches that are turned and twisted eventually become a photograph. The art project Silent Stories started in 2016. Each work is signed and numbered in a limited edition. The stories that inspired the photographs are attached to the back of the works.
