Severin Nilson
Severin Nilson (1846-1918), was born in Asige in Halland, he was a painter, draftsman and photographer. After his academy studies he mainly painted portraits, then his range of subjects was landscapes and history and genre paintings, often depicting children and adults doing various tasks. He was interested in the development of photography and was one of the first Swedish documentary photographers with an imprint in the realistic tradition. Inspired by Artur Hazelius he made photographic studies of folk life.
