Ragnar Sandberg
Ragnar Sandberg artist (1901-72) Young Sandberg grew up in Stenungssund, studied under Bjurström at Valand, Sandberg's lyrical canvases shimmer with intense sunlight and clear color chords, sometimes with elements of sooty blackness. Through his sublime palette that fleetingly alternated between color expressionism and pale pastel tones, he created a steadfast role for himself in his time. From 1947-49 Sandberg was professor of drawing at the Stockholm Academy of Fine Arts, and from 1949-59 he continued as professor of painting. He was also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts.
