Andreas Lundberg - Christine & Napoleon
Andreas Lundberg (b. 1973) is a Stockholm-based fine art photographer with a story-driven and expressive imagery.
In the project Silent Stories, created together with his wife Annie Vesterdahl Lundberg, real-life events are transformed into timeless photographs that invite the viewer into a world of human experiences.
"In 1798, Napoleon rides into Cairo on a white horse and the tricolor is hoisted over the city. That same year, Christine Egypta Bonaparte is born. She is given the name Egypta to honor her uncle's campaign in Egypt. Christine grows up in a turbulent Europe. She moves between France, England and Italy, where she is given the title of princess. In her upper teens, her father Lucien introduces her to a Swedish count from Dalsland. Count Posse proposes to Christine, but he must first travel home to Sweden to also get approval from King Karl Johan XIV. In 1818, there is a wedding and Christine accompanies her count to the cold Nordic country. It is said that when her carriage rolled along Skållerudsvägen towards the Upperud ironworks, she was met by children who welcomed her with wild strawberries strung on blades of grass. She loved wild strawberries. But that was perhaps also the only thing she loved about her new life. Living on a manor in the deep forests of Dalsland with its cold winters did not turn out as she had imagined. herself. She missed her life in southern Europe and was often seen driving around in her cab reading French novels. It is said that after every page she read, she tore it out of the book and threw it into the wind. After a year, she packed her bags and moved to Paris. The Count is said to have warned his subordinates: "Never marry a Frenchwoman."
