Kylberg, Carl

Carl Kylberg (1878-1952) is an influential figure in Swedish 20th century art. He is famous for his glowing color scales where the contours flow into each other with a meditative and mystical mood. Carl Kylberg had a strong preference for the four colors green, red, blue and yellow and often chose the shades where the special character of the individual colors is strongest and most pronounced. Color symbolically, the bright yellow stands for wisdom, red for the living, the blue and blue-green for secrecy and the unknown, but also for peace and spirituality.
