Axel Torneman (1880–1925) was a Swedish artist known for his expressive and colorful paintings. He was a pioneer of modernism in Sweden and was inspired by symbolism and Art Nouveau. Törneman studied in Munich and Paris, where he was influenced by contemporary artistic movements. His most famous works include "Night cafe" (1906), in which he captures an intense atmosphere with strong colors and dramatic lighting. He also created monumental paintings, including for the Riksdagshuset in Stockholm. Törneman's art was characterized by powerful brushstrokes and a sense of movement, which made him a prominent figure in Swedish art history.
