Carl Wilhelmson artist, was a Swedish visual artist. Wilhelmson studied at the Crafts Association's school, at Valand's Art School, and in Leipzig. He was a professor at both Valand and the Academy of Fine Arts and ran his own painting school. Carl Wilhelmson was in addition to his painting, also active as a professional lithographer. In his The collection mainly includes genre paintings, often with marine motifs. One of the Swedish national painters. He was a prominent portrayer of the arduous life of the fishing population.
His painting technique was characterized by a thin layer of paint on the canvas, visible in patches. He also painted depictions of the Uppland and Lapland landscapes, as well as a number of portraits. As a decorative painter, he created decorations bl.a. for the Central Post Office in Stockholm and for the Gothenburg City Library.
