Galleri Melefors welcomes you to The Wild Within — an exhibition with Karin Holmström shown in our galleries in Stockholm and Linköping.

In her new exhibition, Holmström deepens her exploration of the wild — not only in nature, but also within ourselves. Building on her previous work inspired by Botswana’s magnificent wildlife, she now moves towards a more intuitive and personal expression, where a love of nature meets something deeply human.

The result is a dynamic and vibrant collection of works in constant evolution — some of which still bear traces of the figurative, while others open up to something more abstract and experimental.

We invite you to our warm and welcoming environment where we begin with a preview in our Stockholm gallery. The opening will then be held in Linköping, where the rest of the exhibition will also be shown. Light refreshments will be served. Register your participation below.

The wild like love and power

In her work inspired by encounters with animals in Botswana, Holmström captured something of the power and dignity that nature has on its own terms. In The Wild Within, she carries that love forward — the animals become symbols of our own inner power, instinct and freedom, and behind each image is a strong conviction that the wild is worth cherishing and protecting.

Between the figurative and the abstract

The Wild Within marks a clear shift in Holmström's artistry. Forms, colors, and expressions move more freely, the boundary between the external landscape and the internal blurs — and the result is a collection of works in constant motion, some of which bear traces of the figurative while others open up to something more intuitive and experimental.

The wild living in us

For Holmström, creation is about listening inwardly, letting go and daring to follow what wants to happen. In The Wild Within the wild becomes something more than nature, an inner voice, a longing to be whole and true. The wild doesn't just live in nature. It lives in us.
