Wilhelmson, Carl

Carl Wilhelmson artist, was a Swedish visual artist. Wilhelmson studied at Slöjdföreningen's school, at Valand's Art School, and in Leipzig. He was a professor at both Valand and the Academy of Fine Arts and ran his own painting school. In addition to his painting, Carl Wilhelmson was also active as a professional lithographer. His collection mainly contains genre paintings, preferably with marine motifs. One of the Swedish national painters. He was an outstanding portrayer of the arduous life of the fishing population. His painting technique was characterized by a thinly applied color on patchy visible canvas. He also made depictions of the Uppland and Lapland landscape as well as a number of portraits. As a decorative painter, he carried out decorations, e.g. for Centralposten in Stockholm and for Gothenburg's city library. Represented at the Gothenburg Art Museum, at the Waldemarsudde and Thielska gallery in Stockholm and at the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen. We at Galler Melefors are overjoyed to be able to give our customers the availability to buy artwork from Carl Wilhelmson.
