Passport Blue

Description - Artist & Artork

Bertil Vallien's glass sculpture "Passport Blue" fascinates with its mythological expressions. The boat is sand cast with a symbolic traveler. The sculpture is created by hand, which gives a unique feeling. "Passport Blue" belongs to Bertil's famous "Boat" series. A craft that navigates the airspace with a passenger on its way to an unknown location. Foundation of hot-pressed iron. Hand-painted details that are placed in the heated 1200° hot glass. A magnificent work!

A permit to enter port and light anchor. A document that protects your right to travel, from place to place. Something that makes it possible to travel safely everywhere. Wherever.

TO THE ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION

BERTIL CAPTURES AND CREATES STORIES IN ART GLASS

Bertil uses figures, metaphors, and symbols to create a story in the glass. Often the boats are the shell where the art's story unfolds. The boats symbolize movement and freedom. The glass art gives a feeling of knowing or not knowing where you are going.

THE BOATS ENCOURAGE TONES OF THE SUBCONSCIOUS

If you try to catch, hold, and analyze them, they become slippery and slip away. Like dreams. The sleek boats have glided across the world with their messages and aroused wonder for almost three decades. Loaded with symbols and secrets frozen in the glass art, they whisper to us about the existential.

INTERNATIONALLY CELEBRATED
