The Elk and the Little Princess

"Over there you see the fairies. They seem kind and friendly but never trust them and beware of them. Hold my horns tightly with both hands, don't talk to them and pretend you don't see them and they will have no power over you."

With inspiration from Helge Kjellins The tale of the moose bull Skutt and the little princess Tuvstarr with illustrations by John Bauer (1913). The moose Skutt takes Princess Tuvstarr on an adventure and tries to teach her about the world.

Since early childhood, Helle Bang has been inspired by the beautiful mystery of nature. From the girl's childhood fascination with the Limfjord to the artist's eternal source of inspiration and creation. In nature there is both heaven and earth, energy and harmony.

This is where our contemporary artist finds his calling to create an enchanting tribute in bronze – an homage to art, history, nature and the magical world of John Bauer. The sculptures are handcrafted from scratch in clay with inspiration from John Bauer’s famous fairy tale world and cast in bronze in a limited edition of 36 pieces. After casting, the works are carefully polished and processed by the artist.

Galleri Melefors together with artist Helle Bang donates 1000 SEK per sculpture sold from Bauer Collection Edition 36 in favor of Lisa Bauer & The Bauer Quartet and their work setting John Bauer's artwork to music and song. For all sold works in the edition of 11 different sculptures, the scholarship amounts to a total of 396,000 SEK.

About Gallery Melefors

Johan Melefors, born 1971, founder and CEO of Galleri Melefors grew up in a family that is the third generation in the auction and antique industry. Already while growing up, Johan developed an interest in art and since the early 1990s has collected and traded in classic, modern and contemporary konst.Galleri Melefors in Linköping, he started in 2013 when he moved home from Stockholm to his hometown of Linköping, which he then thought lacked an art shop and a gallery with a wide range of established collector's art and a well-thought-out and future-interesting contemporary catalog to view.
