Get to know Bang, Helle

Helle Bang's expressive, abstract painting combined with her characteristic sculptures is what defines her as an artist. In her painting we come into contact with both heaven and earth, where nature is the unfathomable source for finding inspiration, energy and harmony. Nature and its poetic color tones are captured in a coloristic fine sensitivity through an expressive and abstract painting. In the end, it is the viewer and the work that stand alone in the center, a dialogue more significant than any other – it is in the meeting with the viewer that the work in the end becomes completely complete. Her fantastic sculptures with graceful sculptural forms are both modern and timeless.

SOCIETY DECORATOR AND ROYAL ANNIVERSARY GIFTS

From the Faroe Islands and Nuuk to Oslo, Aarhus, Linköping, and many other places. In recent decades, Helle has had solo and collective exhibitions all over the Nordic region. She has also had the honor of seeing her statues and paintings adorn both public and private environments such as universities, churches, and courthouses. As an 80th birthday present, Prince Henrik of Denmark received her bronze statue "The Swan" as an anniversary present.

THE MYSTICAL BEAUTY OF NATURE INSPIRES

Since early childhood, Helle Bang has been inspired by the beautiful mystery of nature. From the girl's childhood fascination around the Limfjord to the artist's eternal source of inspiration and creation. In nature there is both heaven and earth, energy and harmony. Helle Bang strives to capture in her paintings the color poetry of nature in all its expressiveness and abstraction. The natural play of colors is conveyed with a safe coloristic fine sensitivity.

"Be captured by the depth of my paintings and let yourself be swept away in thoughts and dreams. As a girl I loved to lie down in the grass, look up at the clouds playing across the sky and dream.”
- Helle Bang

YOUR MIRROR IMAGE COMPLETES THE WORK

Helle Bang's famous gracile bronze women with mirror-like faces allow the viewer and the work to stand in a solitary wordless dialogue. It is only then, in the viewer's encounter with his own reflection, that the work is completed. Helle's creation evokes existential musings about alternative lives and situations and helps us on the way to the answers to life's big and small questions. She believes that in others we find ourselves.

"We humans reflect ourselves in works of art and each outher to find a meaning in life." - Helle Bang

A TRIBUTE TO JOHN BAUER

In nature there is both heaven and earth, energy and harmony. In one of John Bauer's letters to his great love and course mate Ester Ellqvist, we find these lines:

"- Where the sun has set in the evening, the sky is yellow, yellow as yellow of metal against all the blue snow. Where the sky is clear and hard and sharp. Then all the stars come - first in the blue zenith and finally flash all over the great high vault."

This is where our contemporary artists find their calling to create an enchanting homage in bronze and glass – a tribute to art, nature, and the magical world of John Bauer.
