In the series Aluminum studies Robert Hilmersson explores how the material affects situation, motif, symbolism and expression. Some of his most appreciated motifs have, in collaboration with Sand Golf Club in Jönköping, been transferred from canvas to aluminum. The works are made in an edition of eight, where number one in each edition is permanently exhibited at Sand Golf Club.
Robert Hilmersson is one of Sweden's most interesting and internationally recognized pop and street art artists. A recurring theme in his art is placing well-known places, events, animals, nature and urban motifs in new contexts. By adding human attributes, he creates works that reflect our times in both a thought-provoking and humorous way. The strong visual symbolism invites reflection and contemplation.
Hilmersson does not shy away from the big issues – politics, social challenges and above all the climate – where his characteristic penguins often meet the viewer with a sharp and critical gaze. One of his main sources of inspiration is pop art icon Andy Warhol, which is clearly visible in the use of everyday objects and symbols to illuminate larger social issues.
In recent years, Robert Hilmersson's work has also started to appear at international auctions. Among other things, his art was listed at Phillips Auction in London in 2021, where the final prices exceeded our catalogue prices. This confirms our long-term confidence in his artistry – of course only as an observation, but an interesting aspect to be aware of when investing in a work you really like.

Johan Melefors, born 1971, founder and CEO of Galleri Melefors, grew up in a family that is the third generation in the auction and antiques industry.
