The Marine Painter Per Wilhelm Cedergren (1820–1896) was intimately associated with the marine world from childhood. At the age of nine, he was enrolled as a ship's boy in the service of the crown. His talent for drawing was noticed early on and after a few years he was given work drawing templates for shipbuilding. When Cedergren was twenty, a folklorist visited his parents' home and noticed a painting on the wall that Cedergren had created himself. This led to him being offered three months of free tuition at the Academy of Fine Arts' Sunday school.
Cedergren's marine paintings are mostly documentary depictions of ships and boats, especially in the Stockholm environment. He also painted many ship portraits, probably on commission. The royal family bought several of his works, and Charles XV even bought him a small farm at Drottningholm. Cedergren is represented at the National Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Nordic Museum.

Johan Melefors, born 1971, founder and CEO of Galleri Melefors, grew up in a family that is the third generation in the auction and antiques industry. Already during his childhood, Johan developed an interest in art and since the early 1990s has collected and traded classic, modern and contemporary art. konst.Galleri He started Melefors in Linköping in 2013 when he moved home from Stockholm to his birthplace of Linköping, which he felt lacked an art store and gallery with a breadth of established collector's art and a well-thought-out and future-oriented contemporary catalog to display.
