In the series "Aluminum studies", Robert Hilmersson explores how the material affects the situation, the motif, the symbolism and the expressions. Some of Hilmersson's most beloved motifs have been transferred from canvas to aluminum in a collaboration with Sand Golf Club in Jönköping. The works are made in editions of 8 copies each, where No. 1 of each edition hangs on display at Sand Golfklubb.
Robert Hilmersson is one of the country's most interesting and internationally recognized pop & street art artists. The recurring theme in his creation is to put known places, events, animals, nature and big city themes in different situations. Often the human attributes are used to reflect our present in a thought-provoking but at the same time humorous way. The strong visual symbolism attracts thoughtfulness and invites you to reflect on the subject in question. Robert Hilmersson doesn't shy away from the big subjects - politics, social problems and above all the climate - where his characteristic penguins scrutinize the viewer. One of Robert Hilmersson's major sources of inspiration is the pop art icon Andy Warhol, where clear influences can be seen in the use of everyday objects and attributes to reflect larger subjects.
We observe that Robert's art has also started appearing at international auctions in recent years. With notes from for example Phillips auction in London 2021, where the final price exceeds our catalog prices, which confirms our belief in his art in the long term. Of course, just an observation, but at the same time a fun feature to know when you buy a work by Hilmersson that you like!

He thinks that they are pleasant to put in different environments as they, in a humorous way, make the viewer think about the bigger issues of our time. Robert has tested a few different penguins, but it is usually the same penguin who returns to him.

London, New York, Los Angeles, and Budapest to name a few cities. Among other things, Sir Elton John has specially commissioned works from Robert. At home in Sweden, he became Affordable Artfair's most noted artist in 2019.
Robert studied Art Studies in Stockholm and worked at a design agency before art took over. As a young man, he painted graffiti and learned to handle spray bottles, a technique that stayed with him throughout his life.

The influences come from childhood American movies with Clint Eastwood. Over time, the interest developed into a hunt for the unpolished and rough. The old signs and cars give the works a sense of intensity and connect our present with the 70s and 80s.
Robert Hilmersson is very interested in societal issues and art is his way of contributing to the discussion and debate on current topics. A good example is his work "Still Floating", which deals with global warming and its impact on the environment and penguins.
