Margaret Melin is a ceramicist and has her workshop in Norra Grundsund, where she both turns utility ceramics and sculpts and fires Raku in various techniques. Melin's artwork has a clean design language where she strives to create clean forms where the beautiful aesthetics are at the center. Her sculptures are inspired by the rhythm of dance and the movement of the body. She is driven by learning new things, experimenting and exploring new forms and methods. The sculptures are unique and each specimen is sculpted from scratch.
" My torsos are all unique, but similar in their basic form. Torson is the classic sculpture, an upper body without arms and legs, which nevertheless expresses an emotion through the movement or posture of the body. The expression is enhanced by the different types of raku firing as in copper matte - lively in the flaming colors or austere as in black-burnt raku."
