Niklas Amundson was born in 1967 on the Swedish east coast, near Stockholm, Sweden's capital. At an early age, he moved with his family to a quiet and beautiful island called Marstrand on the west coast of Sweden. There he followed in his father's footsteps and started painting almost as soon as he could hold a brush in his hand. Over the years, Niklas' association with the sea has continued and has taken him from the deck of the 138 sailboat S/S Gloria to a Marstrand pilot boat and later to the Coast Guard. He paints continuously and draws inspiration from his experiences both in the past and in the present. In his own words: "I get a daily dose of inspiration from living next to the windy North Sea." Marstrandssonen is the only Swedish painter to have a painting entered into the oceanographic museum in Monaco. Amundson's art is found in royalty and his art adorns walls around the world.
