Warm rocks, floating clouds, blue sky and a mirror-like horizon. The swallows play freely, hunting or out of desire. A motif of peace of mind. Thure Wallner, one of our great artists, has succeeded in creating an extremely skillful depiction of a Swedish landscape in this delicate format.
Thure Wallner (1888-1965) came from Stockholm and was a nature painter like Bruno Liljefors. It is said that he must have met his role model Liljefors, who gave him advice on how to paint and use the animal motifs. Close studies of animals in their natural environment are Thure Wallner's signature, above all depictions of foxes, cats and birds in environments from the Mälaren landscapes. His great wealth of detail in his paintings has meant that he is often represented on school posters. He has also illustrated children's books. Thure Wallner is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm.
